Plans, renewal, and expiry

The checkout summary is the contract for your current term: label and parent domain, price and currency, start/expiry, renewal mode, review status, and policy versions.

Free monthly

Free monthly leases require an affirmative manual renewal every month. They do not renew automatically. Renewal rechecks account eligibility, name policy, parent-zone availability, and abuse/legal holds.

Paid yearly

Yearly leases are manually renewable in the initial service. The panel shows the renewal offer and deadline. A later price does not rewrite the term already paid; the new price applies only when you choose a new term.

Lifetime

“Lifetime” is not perpetual domain ownership. It means no routine renewal charge for the commercial lifetime defined in the offer and terms, while Dots owns and operates the parent domain and the lease remains policy-compliant.

Expiry and grace

At expiry, Dots disables DNS first. The name enters a configured grace period and is not immediately offered to someone else. A legal or abuse hold can extend that period. After grace, and only when no hold remains, the name may be released.

Payment, renewal, and DNS each have separate statuses. A paid renewal can therefore show a DNS operation still pending or failed; staff can reconcile it without charging again.
