Frequently asked questions

Do I own the domain?

No. You lease the right to use one subdomain while the lease is active. Dots owns and operates the parent domain. The lease is revocable under its terms and policies.

Does Dots proxy or host my site?

No. Dots publishes one unproxied A or CNAME DNS record. Traffic goes directly to the destination you configure. Hosting, certificates, email, redirects, traffic analytics, and origin protection are not included.

Can I add TXT, MX, AAAA, wildcard, or several records?

Not in the initial service. Only one A or CNAME record is accepted. This narrow surface reduces operational and abuse risk while the service matures.

Why is a name premium or unavailable?

Administrators can reserve operational/protected terms, flag premium words, and set prices by word, parent domain, label length, term, and review requirement. Active, reserved, held, grace-period, or protected names are not available.

When does manual transfer activate my name?

After an authorized staff member verifies and approves it. Your note or payment return screen does not activate the lease. The panel separately shows payment, lease, and DNS provisioning status.

Can Dots suspend a name?

Yes. Dots can disable or terminate names for abuse, legal requirements, security, non-payment/expiry, or policy violations. Emergency suspension can occur before a full review; restoration and appeals are separate decisions.
